Paul Dietrich's fifth album as a leader, 'A Small Patch of Earth,' marks a shift from his recent large-ensemble projects (2019's 'Forward,' an 18-piece big band, and 2023's '5+4,' for a nine-piece group) to a more intimate and folk-inspired sound.
