Sabresonic is the 1993 debut from The Sabres Of Paradise, a shadowy, subversive cornerstone of early UK electronica. Across two LPs, it hums with low-end menace and after-hours mystique.

Founded by Andrew Weatherall alongside Jagz Kooner and Gary Burns, the trio carved out a sound that fused acid house, dub, techno, and industrial grit into something wholly their own. Released on Weatherall’s Sabres Of Paradise label, the album felt less like a club record and more like a coded transmission from London’s underground. It is cerebral but physical, minimal yet immersive.

“Smokebelch II (Beatless Mix)” drifts in a narcotic haze, all echo and atmosphere, while “Wilmot” snaps with elastic bass and razor-sharp percussion. “Clock Factory” leans into mechanized funk, its metallic textures clanking with purpose, and “Rumble Summons” rides a dub-heavy pulse that feels subterranean and slyly psychedelic. Throughout, the production is spacious and tactile, built for deep listening as much as late-night dance floors.

This 2LP pressing lets Sabresonic stretch out the way it was meant to - wide grooves, heavy bass, and plenty of room for those cavernous reverbs to bloom. For collectors of forward-thinking 90s electronic music, it remains a cult classic that still sounds daring, dangerous, and deliciously unpolished.
